The mirrors in a manor reveal the next heir's death in advance, and only the person chosen by the mirrors can rewrite the will.
When Mira Ashford first entered her grandmother's manor, every mirror was covered in black cloth. Just before the will was read, the white-gloved butler handed her a pair of silver scissors. The heir, he said, must cut open the first mirror by hand. The instant the black cloth fell, the reflection did not show her face. It showed her tomorrow morning, lying dead in the rose garden.
